Testing life-saving medicine on animals can be argued to be a necessary evil, but it is not critical to our well-being to have Febreeze, Pantene, or OxiClean, just three of hundreds of items tested on animals, often resulting in their permanent psychological traumatization and in many cases eyes lost due to damage done by the testing. There are natural alternatives to almost every chemical product that large companies test on animals, a torture we allow and even invite by not asking them to stop. Companies inflict this abuse on animals because they are lazy, because they are cheap, and because they are greedy. There is no other explanation for the pain they are willing to inflict on living creatures. They do it solely so they can make money on the chemicals they market to us as "necessities." Beagles, specifically, are used because they're such gentle, docile animals. Companies take advantage of their even temperament, rewarding them with pain and violence so we can have a variety of soap and deodorant scents.

This testing is not necessary, as is evidenced by the long list of companies who sell similar, and in many cases superior, products without involving and harming animals. Please petition these big companies to stop animal testing and find reasonable, humane ways to proceed. It is not enough to support the recent Beagle Freedom Bill, which only helps save dogs after they've been used up and tormented. Something must be done to stop the testing now and save beagles and other animals from unnecessary pain and cruelty.
