Proceed with Grade 6 educational reforms for 2026 students

The Issue

The Issue

As a concerned parent and citizen of Sri Lanka, I am deeply concerned about the decision to postpone the Grade 6 educational reforms planned for the 2026 student cohort. These reforms gave hope to many parents and students as a meaningful step toward improving the quality and relevance of our education system.

While minor issues in content were identified, such concerns are natural in any reform process and could have been addressed through gradual improvements and expert review. Suspending the reforms altogether disrupts long-term education planning and unfairly affects children who were prepared for this transition.

Education should remain a non-partisan national priority, guided by the best interests of students. I respectfully urge the Government of Sri Lanka to proceed with the Grade 6 educational reforms for 2026 students as originally scheduled, while continuing to refine the curriculum through structured review.

I invite fellow parents, educators, and citizens to support this petition and stand for the educational future of our children.
