I want to thank everyone that’s supporting us; I have gained Sisters, Brothers, Fathers, Mothers and Friends. We have won one of our battles and Osime is home and trying to settle in; but It is going to be an uphill battle especially with the Deportation Order hanging over his head. We cannot give up now nor ease the momentum, we are gaining grounds to expose the injustices in the system, toward vulnerable groups of people and people of colour.

My son, although home, is traumatised by the ordeal he went through. If the system had not significantly failed us, from school through to the criminal Justice System, my son would not have developed heart condition and psychological PTSD.

Until we hear more about the Deportation Order, we will continue to be vigilant. As a family we are doing everything that’s in our power and capability to engage and support Osime on a day to day basis, until we can get professional support. He is disoriented, and not properly aware of how COVID-19 has changed the world and that things are not the same as before he was incarcerated. Neither does he understand the number and levels of restrictions that’s been placed upon his activities.

Although my son went through such a horrendous and unsettling ordeal, the day after his release his YPA (Young Person Advisor) was taken off him. I found that to have been insensitive and cold.

Neither Social Service refer him to their Adult Services to enable him to get some needed support. It is clear that their failings still continue, as we have not been offered a Care Package to aid him to settle back into the semblance of normality.

Once again I thank my all my newly founded friends for all your kind words and continued support; without you the indifferent system would have finished us off and my son’s situation … I don’t know what would have happened to him!
