On Tuesday 24 April, after a 20 min hearing at Feltham Immigration Tribunal offices, Ken was released on bail from Colnbrook detention centre on the same conditions as last February. Another victory for Ken and his family and another defeat for the racist Home Office. It begs the question why he was arrested in the first place, why all that money was wasted and why all the stress and damage was caused to his family. This amounts to racist harassment. The Home Office claimed that a judicial review into his detention (putting his children into care, against their own 'guidelines') 'is not a barrier to removal', nor is the fact that a psychologist's report showing that his children have been and will be negatively affected by his deportation, 'a barrier to removal'. The Home Office lied that Ken had told them he 'had someone to look after [his children]'! He had said no such thing, and he had no one to do this, hence the children being taken into care! The Home office claimed to have travel documents from the Nigerian High Commission, another lie. The High Commission have issued no such documents, and have refused to do so whilst Ken has a pending legal case. Its up to us now to put pressure on the Home Office, Caroline Nokes and Amber Rudd, and the Nigerian High Commission in London and fight to keep Ken here with his family. The Windrush 'scandal' has shown to millions of people in Britain just how racist and unbending the Home Office is; even within the Home office itself, its own staff face harassment and discrimination. This is not about the individual, after Ken they came for the Afro-Caribbeans, then after Brexit they'll come for the EU migrants, then they'll come for the disabled and then they'll come for us. The time to fight is now. Nigerian High Commission: Mrs H. Taddy Administrative Attache'/Secretary to the High Commisioner Phone 020 7839 1244 Email: hc@nigeriahc.org.uk Mr. L.A.
