Thank you The Guardian to take up this story - preparing for appeal with one member of NMCWAtch who basically is being told that as he keeps denying the allegation he doesn't stand a chance at re-entry application! It's appauling - he is a high achiever, done incredibly well since coming to the UK and has full support of his employer who is desparate to have him back if he can get his PIN back. Luckily for him his wife also is here on a working visa so he can remain, but if that wasn't the case he would most likely be deported which would be a HUGE loss for patients and colleagues alike. Hoping someone sees some sense because so far there has been little. Also to note we were not allowed to either a) cross examine the witnesses or b) cross examine the statistics provided by Pearson Vue - sound familiar??!!!
They have allowed registrants who have admitted they cheated - back on the register.... and yet those who are saying they didn't they are assuming are lying and won't let back on - madness...!!!
Confidence in the register is not gained by encouraging registrants to say what they believe the NMC want to hear.
Whilst I commend a sympathetic approach to those nurses who were definitely subject to appalling bullying and harassment and forced to use a proxy - there has been known dishonesty for which people have been struck off for less - the whole system is bonkers!
