A freedom of information request has shown the the numbers of Strike off orders have risen dramatically in recent years

The numbers have rrisen to 214 strike offs in the 2023/2024 period with an increase of 96% compared to 2021/2022.

We ask what work has been done to understand this

Are panels becoming more punitive?

Are there more unrepresented registrants leading to higher sanctions?

Are more registrants simply not engaging and giving up, so the only option for panels is to remove?

Would another panel have reached the same conclusion?

We know that FtP has significant impact on mental health and that mental health is at a "perilous low" for nurses in recent years

More needs to be done to understand if any learning and improvement is to take place
