The Issue

Over the past few years, residents of College Station's Midtown have witnessed neglected promises that impact the development and prosperity of their community. Lately, these broken promises have resulted in a staggering 30% increase in property taxes for Midtown residents, becoming an excessive burden affecting livelihoods, and as a community, we demand change.

We petition the city of College Station to improve its treatment of the Midtown area. This can be done either by exploring/reevaluating current policies to make conducting business in College Station Midtown economically sound to benefit homeowners, renters, and commercial development. This effort not only helps local residents but also stimulates regional economic growth.

The neglect of our area is not only unjust, but it directly contradicts the city’s mission statement, which promises to ‘provide high-quality municipal services to promote a safe, healthy, and vibrant community’. It is time for the city of College Station to live up to its words by acting in the best interests of Midtown residents.

We, therefore, call upon our local government to prioritize Midtown in their development plans and take immediate action to avoid further property tax hikes. Sign this petition to support Midtown residents, calling on the city to fulfill their promises and consider the well-being of every citizen.
