Kairanga Bunnythorpe Road, between Roberts Line and Te Ngaio Road, is a high-risk section of road for our community.

Since 2007, there have been 31 crashes within this 1.2 kilometre stretch, including four fatalities and multiple serious injuries.

In recent years, four young people have lost their lives, and many more have suffered life-altering injuries.

Traffic in this area continues to increase, placing even more pressure on these intersections.

We are calling on Palmerston North City Council to:

• Prioritise safety improvements on Kairanga Bunnythorpe Road
• Install “High Accident Area” warning signage
• Install effective rumble strips suitable for heavy vehicles
• Improve road markings, visibility, and signage clarity
• Apply consistent safety measures at both intersections
• Commit to investigating and delivering longer-term safety solutions

Our community is asking for action before another life is lost.
