Prioritise reopening Sanders Lane!

Prioritise reopening Sanders Lane!
The Issue
Sanders Lane (NW7) closed in Spring 2023 following a structural survey determining that the bridge along it was unsafe.
In October 2024, Barnet Council advised that there is no timeline for reopening it.
As of March 2025, the lane is still closed.
We want the council to prioritise the reopening of Sanders Lane to ensure everyone, regardless of their mobility, can navigate Mill Hill with safety, ease and dignity.
Locals and visitors to Hendon Golf Club and Stone X stadium have been severely impacted by the closure.
We’ve noticed a rise in antisocial behaviour, fly tipping, stolen motorbikes being driven along it and discarded there, unsavoury characters loitering and weekly vandalism to the railings meant to keep people out. With the council at one point attending the site several times a week to fix the fence closing the lane off to the public, we cannot imagine the costs and resources that have gone into this!
The closure also creates challenges for those with disabilities, walking difficulties and families with young children and caregivers. The detours mean longer, more arduous routes that can be particularly taxing on those with mobility issues.
Now is the time to act - join our petition. We have had enough of our concerns not being taken seriously.
