Our friend Tara Cunningham passed away after taking her own life. We recently asked the school for a memorial spot, a tree and an engraved rock, outside our schools theater building/area. The principal informed us that they do not create memorials for students that have committed suicide. We believe that it was incredibly wrong, how she died was nothing to who she was, and showing to anyone thinking about suicide how many people out there would miss them, that's important. Tara was an amazing artist, singer, actor, and an even better friend. She deserves to be memorialized in the place where she found a voice. All of her friends, all of her family, we deserve to have something of her. And anyone suffering with depression needs to learn her story, and know that that's not the way out. And if nothing else, see that they will never get to see the impact they made on people. They will see the impact she made on us, and that someone out there will fight for them like we tried to fight for her.
