CMH Lahore: Petition for academic fee relief (Year:2020-2021)
The Issue
First and foremost, we applaud the early decision of CMH to migrate all classes to a virtual setting for the remainder of the school year. Public health is of course the paramount concern at a time like this.
Nevertheless, we students of CMH believe that virtual coursework, however well executed, does not provide the same educational value as the normal in-person classes that we expected when we enrolled. Much of the educational experience comes from interacting with teachers, attending labs and demonstrations.
It is also necessary to note that we, the students, and our parents, have assumed tremendous financial and personal burdens to be here. Including, taking debt and spending savings. Now, more so due to the coronavirus pandemic that has taken over, our parents are facing additional financial crisis.
Furthermore, not being on campus has reduced cost of many facilities including labs, internet, extra curriculars, as well as utilities like electricity, and water.
We would also like to bring attention to the hostel charges being applied despite of hostelites staying on campus for three months only.
With that reality in mind, the students propose to receive an appropriate amount of relief of tuition payments or other forms of assistance to recompense for the period during which the school’s operations are affected.
