Corporal punishment in specific canning and humiliating punishements to students at any age could make them feel bad. I used to feel bad when I was in school for a simple punishment of jogging the ground for one or two circles if I get late or am not in uniform. This being the case I wonder how one could make use of corporal punishment especially canning. Of course I find there is some difference in the way students are behaving from my experience in the previous year of work at schools. Despite the fact I also found students especially class I and II students fearing of corporal punishment and afraid to meet The Principal, Velammal Public School, Thiruppuvanam, Sivagangai, who was brutally implementing this. This will prevent the students from developing their social skills at an early stage. From the various information gathered the person responsible for this will be the Principal of the school and only parents can question or teachers handle the students tactfully without reaching her grasp. Kindly read the blogs posted relating to this and spread the word around. This takes time and innovative measures to deal with punsihments.

I can cite many instances where the Principal have abused students with Corproal Punishment. One student was punished repeatedly because she was branded as a "thief" and was given less privileges by asking her to sit on the floor. Another student was punished for being kind to someone whom they do not like in the name of a blame of stealing petty cash that belongs to school from the teacher. Yet another student was canned severely for mispronouncing the name of English teacher when she learnt how to pronounce correctly. She could not pronounce for her age was only 9. There was one mroe instnace when a 5 year old boy beaten to read Tamil without mistakes and he used to forget to read everytime being beaten. In the end, he used to be sent home late with fear of being made to stay back at school itself after a makeover to hide waht happened at school with few kind words.

Besides I find what may be an acceptable practice to many is not acceptable to me as I find hard accepting being hit or to hit somebody. Since it hurt me badly to the extent of deciding that is best to refrain from mingling with small kids for their good, I decided to request you all to sign this petition to reach the concerned person...in hope that this when it reaches them may touch a corner of guilt and repentance to change...!!! 

The grim hope that I hold is that I can still get this done successfully through many kind hearts!! Please pass this to all  whom you know and will involve!!! There are many unheard cries of parents maybe who have not taken strides forward positively as the case should be!!! And I believe in not staying in the arena of a losing battle ground! This is a small complement that I can do those little hearts that trusted and relied on me and those hearts that kept me going till the end!!!
