Princeton Back to School started this petition to Princeton NJ Board of Education

*PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION AND HELP US RE-OPEN OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS!*

Our goal is to return Princeton Public Schools (PPS) to 100%, in-person, full-time education.

The current model of education is causing the quality of education to fall short of the standards expected from Princeton schools and is negatively impacting our children.

Here are some FACTS about what we know:

·      The current system has contributed to a mental health and physical health crisis in Princeton’s youth.  This includes screen/zoom-fatigue, premature exposure to social media, and dramatically increasing incidences of anxiety, clinical depression, suicide ideation, and obesity.

·      The current situation has placed our dedicated teachers in an impossible, unsustainable position. Many teachers report that they do not like the hybrid model and find it significantly less effective than in-person instruction, and many are concerned about the risk of student and teacher burn-out.

·      Schools are safe.  In fact, they are safer than the general community according to the CDC and numerous published studies. In Princeton, there have been zero cases of in-school transmission of COVID-19.

·      COVID-19 poses very low risk to our children, and the Princeton community transmission is low.

·      The state of NJ and the CDC issue guidelines. They are not mandates, and they are not requirements.  In fact, they provide school districts with the flexibility to do what is best for their children.

·      Princeton residents without children in PPS should be concerned. Many people move to Princeton for the school system, and if things continue to deteriorate, Princeton will be a less desirable place to live.

We all want to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 in our schools. We understand the well-intentioned desire of PPS to protect the children, teachers and staff but we remain concerned that their overly cautious approach is inadvertently causing greater harm.

To all the like-minded parents, students, teachers, and residents of Princeton, we ask for your help and ask that you sign this petition so that our children are able to return to school for 100% full-time, in-person education.
