My daughter started Elementary School on August 28th at the age of 4 years old. She turned 5 on October 7th. On October 30th I received a call from the Principle saying they did not realize her birthday was 7 days past the kindergarten enrollment and their employee made a mistake by enrolling her.  After meeting with the superintendent and principle the only argument they had is waiting a year could make her "more mature."Even though they had never spoken to my child or to the teacher who continuously  raves about how helpful my daughter is to others.It is now November 18th she has been in school for over 50 days and received her first report card reflecting all S+ and S's.She absolutely loves school! I do not think that the mistake of employee should be taken out on my child. While the employee continues to have their job. My daughters whole world is about to change and it could be detrimental to her self esteem if she can not continue to go to school. Repeating a entire first quarter of school next year would be to no benefit at all if she is already keeping up with the class. Being 7 days younger does not make you anymore smarter than the next person and the School is not thinking about the child
