End Child Marriage in Pakistan

0 have signed. Let’s get to 150,000!

Malookan, aka Gudi, was sold in marriage for 250,000 Rupees.

She is ten years old.

Her husband is 40 years old.

Thanks to the media uproar, Malookan has been rescued and rehabilitated. But thousands of other children in Pakistan are not as fortunate.

In a landmark move, the Senate of Pakistan has passed the 'Child Marriages (Restraint) Amendment Bill 2019, which fixes the age for a lawful marriage at 18.

However, the Bill, raised as a Private Members Bill by Mr. Ramesh Kumar, still needs to be passed by  the National Assembly. Yet, members of the National Assembly are divided. Two cabinet members from the ruling party have recorded their categorical opposition to it. One is significantly the Minister of Religious Affairs. The other has announced that he will resign if compelled to vote for the Bill. While there are cabinet members in favour of the bill, there is still a need to raise our voices to ensure it is passed by the NA, in face of fierce opposition.

We need your signatures to ensure that the evil practice of child marriage is ended, once and for all.
