It was in 1998 that Mr. Nanabhoy Palkhivala, one of the finest lawyers that the country has ever produced, was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his contribution to the field of legal services. But Bombay High Court Solicitor & Advocate Mr. Rajan Jayakar feels that the recognition is not enough to honour Mr Palkhivala's true legacy. That is why he has started a campaign to get the Bharat Ratna conferred posthumously on him earlier this year, which happens to be the great lawyer's birth centenary. 

The good news is that Mr. KK Venugopal, the current Attorney General of India, has written back saying he endorses Mr. Jayakar's proposition.

Mr. Rajan Jayakar has written to the Prime Minister and the President of India as well.
