The government of India wants to amend the forest policy to allow private industry to do plantations on forest land to meet their timber needs.

This will destroy our gene pool, bio-diversity, cause imbalance in the ecological make up of each forest and disturb food chains of all species and livelyhood patterns of 300 million forest dweller tribal people.The existing policy bans commercial activity in natural forests to protect our nAtural heritage. The new draft policy is up for public comments till April 14. Let us oppose the new draft policy. Do not commercialise forests Leave our forests alone and undisturbed.
