Save India's young Doctors; Tokenism will not do

Save India's young Doctors; Tokenism will not do
The Issue
In the latest development about augmenting Healthcare manpower, some irrational and shortsighted decisions have been taken by government of India, inspite of repeated advise of senior doctors and Healthcare professional to the contrary.
1. NEET PG Exams have been postponed by four months, leaving a major void in the beginning of a doctor's career, and also wasting of 1.5 lakh sitting doctors out of active service.
2. No academic or monetary incentive announced for junior doctors who are called to join COVID duty voluntarily. MBBS qualified doctors waiting for Junior Residentship have been left with no incentive, except PM Samman Award - sans any monetary benefit.
3. Senior Residentship has not been offered to Junior resident doctors in the interim period.
4. No salary increase, Risk allowance for Junior and Senior Residents (who are the backbone of Hospitals) or any other incentive by way of higher weightage in NEET-PG exam for MBBS doctors choosing active COVID duty.
5. Doctors who have been continuously working on active COVID duty for over 400 days, have not been mentioned at all, leave aside being rewarded in any form, academically or monetarily.
We request Govt of India to hold NEET PG online exam immediately. To announce significant salary and allowances increase for Resident Doctors of all seniorities. To Incentivise COVID duty of over 100 days by way of additional weightage in NEET PG Exams. To Minimise the vast existing disparities in salary structures of Govt. Doctors amongst states/UTs.
