The Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA) enacted by the Indian Government goes against the spirit of the Constitution of India. It is an attack on the secular fabric of the country and has created a wide spread sense of fear in the citizens of the country, especially the Muslim community. This law along with the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is a blatant effort by the current government to exclude and ostracize an entire community along communal lines. 

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is an ancient Vedic value that envisions the entire world, including conscious and non-conscious beings as members of one large family. India has always been a land that has fostered this spiritual value in its various diverse people. CAA not only violates the Constitution of India but also the very spiritual foundation of an ancient civilization. 

It is the constitutional, ethical, moral and spiritual responsibility of every citizen of India to have this law REPEALED which has all the potential to undermine the very essence of what makes India an inclusive country. 

At a time when the opposition is voiceless and lacks decisive leadership, the student body of the country is responding to the situation by boldly standing up to an unjust law and as a result students are being criminalized and university campuses are being militarized. Students are being treated as convicts and the government has shamelessly resorted to use of brute force and violence to silence legitimate dissent!
