Indian Education System is Outdated and Needs to be Changed

The Issue

Right now, our education system is all about memorizing stuff but not to implement or grasp the concept.

The Problem:

1. How bad is our Education System:

i. Right now, our education system is all about rote learning, students are emphasized to remember contents of the book or documentation rather than developing their logic, thinking and intuition . Let me tell you the drawback of this:

=> You know that the planets revolves around it's star but you don't know the reason behind that.

=> You know algebra, trigonometry and even calculus (rare cases) but you have no idea where all that will be used and you try to make fun of maths on social media. (which usually backfires)

Suggestion: Education must be all about knowing things by knowing the logic behind it rather than learning it. You can't keep everything in your mind for eternity because you will forget things that are not used for a while. Even computer hard drives starts losing data after a while.

ii. More practicals are needed to understand things in the chapters more better it can help the students to know the underlying mechanism more better than just reading it from a book.

Suggestion: Education board must keep a track on schools if they have proper labs and all the experiments given in the book must be performed whilst the chapter is being done.

iii. In order to make 10th standard easy (allegedly) the decision makers have created a huge difference between the level of 10th and 11th standard. In 10th there is just theoretical and very basic stuff and then in 11th they are like 'What the hell is that? This much maths?'  Clearly 10th standard can't develop the logic and problem solving skills of students and suddenly in 11th and 12th they are bombarded with convoluted topics and in schools those topics are not properly taught. Why not divide the things? why so much hype is created for std 10th and 12th isn't all levels of education equally important? This is the reason why we have to resort to coaching classes, because school teachers aren't able to satisfy our minds.

A Friendly note: Indian thinks their education system is the best in world, I don't know what let them think that, but let me tell you, the contents in the Indian education system is one of the worst (or what we call 'lame') in the world, yes, it's more lame than even the American Education System. When the world say Asians are great in Maths and Science, they don't talk about India, they talk about Russians, Chinese and Japanese. If you are one of those Indians who think our education system is the best then mate, you are illiterate. If you have gone to some place called college, then clearly 10 years (appx) worth of education and money have been wasted on you.

Suggestion: Revision of syllabus in more better way, keeping basic things in lower standards . Smaller grades needs to be revised as well.

iv. Another problem in the education system is, there is no concept of Specialization. I mean, why would I learn about History and Civics when I want to be photographer? I just want to say that, teach only things that students will be using in the future in their profession. Why do I cram useless things in my brain without any reason?

Suggestion: Start optional subject concept from smaller grade and suggest the students what they should take based on their interest and depending upon what they want to be in future.

2. Cheating in Exams

i. First of all, cheating or using any kind of unfair means in exam must not be neglected (provided that the Education System is Specialized and is based on understanding things rather than rote learning). Individual caught while cheating must be dealt with strictly. At least an year ban (from any kind of certified education course) for any kind of unfair means. And if the School or College is also involved in that, they must be Banned for ever without any excuse.

3. Educational Institutions (Schools and Colleges)

i. Many colleges are so much indulged in bookish materials that they don't tell the students how much technologically advanced the human race is, they must tell the students what's been invented and how it works as well and what can we do more to make it better. But, they aren't paid to do that, right?

ii. Many engineering colleges doesn't even have working instruments, how did they even get the certificate to carry on? In many colleges like mine, we weren't even allowed to choose the Open Elective subjects because faculties for those subjects weren't available.

iii. There are about 800 colleges in Uttar Pradesh Technical University  (One of the many state universities in India.) and at least half of them fail to be called a college but still they are functioning. That clearly means that, all people in India care about is making money.

Every year, India produces 1.5 M engineers but only few of them get Jobs that's not because companies don't want them, it's because half of them don't know why did they select engineering and the main reason behind that is, anyone can get into an engineering colleges (whether they deserve it or not). Most of the engineering colleges in India, exist just to get you a degree instead of making you a good engineer.

I know these are not easy to implement but not impossible.

Almost half of our talented people are abroad, why is that? think for yourself about why people choose to go abroad rather than work in their own country.

Note: If you are against specialization of courses and in support of rote learning useless things please make cheating legal in exams.
