Dear supporters, Last night we reached out to a fellow human rights and refugee advocate, asking if Ali knew there are many people fighting for him to be brought to Australia. Whilst there has been no movement or real response from our Federal representatives, Ali now knows there are over 25,000 people fighting for him to be brought to Australia for end-of-life care. He said, "The news about the petition supporting me, so many people, has made me very happy and given me some hope. "Thank you to the many people, doctors and many people in Australia who are supporting me. "I will pray for all the good people. I can't do anything else." Just tonight, SBS's Rashida Yosufzai reported on a statement by the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, who said, “If he knows that he is not going to be buried in a religious way (he would believe) his soul won’t be rested in peace." Whilst the Australian Government has offered to transfer him to Taiwan for medical treatment, the Australian Medical Council has drawn attention to the fact Taiwan has no Hazara community, no family, no one to translate and no one to perform Shia Muslim rituals after his death. He also can't go back to his homeland, Afghanistan. Despite being a genuine refugee who fled persecution, the Australian Government tried to pay him $25,000 to go back. Despite our Government's silence, we haven't lost hope. We've been bolstered by Ali's words and the collective, unwavering support of so many Australians. But time is running out -- we must act now to ensure Ali is brought to Australia to receive end-of-life care and receive a Shia burial. Momentum is building across Australia and the globe to bring governments to account, to treat refugees and asylum seekers fairly and with respect. We're witnessing a shift -- thanks to your support together we're helping change the fate of some of the world's most vulnerable people. We must act quickly for Ali -- can you sign our petition, share with five friends and can call your local MP to urge them to #BringAliHere? In solidarity, Luisa Low and Julie Macken
