LOUIS RIEL - CANADA’S INDIGENOUS (Métis) FATHER OF CONFEDERATION
The Issue
In light of the 2019-20 sesquicentennial of Louis Riel’s 1869-70 constitutional campaign guiding the entrance of the North-Western Territory and Rupert's Land into the Canadian Confederation with the formation of the province of Manitoba, we urge Canadian Parliamentarians to join together and take this 150th anniversary to put forward a Special Resolution to finally recognize "Louis Riel as Canada’s Indigenous (Métis) Father of Confederation."
