Formalize & Fully Protect the North Bimini Marine Reserve - - - - - - - No Golf Course in the NBMR
The Issue
Proclaimed as the highest-priority Marine Protected Area (MPA) site in all of The Bahamas in 2000, and officially declared in December of 2008 by The Bahamas Ministry of Marine Resources, the North Bimini Marine Reserve aims to preserve one of the richest environments in The Bahamas.
The North Bimini Marine Reserve encompasses an area of exceptional economic, environmental, and cultural importance to The Bahamas, and through the wise use and management of this area we can ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for all of Bimini’s residents and businesses.
Despite strong local, national, and international support for the NBMR, a foreign developer is trying to deny its significance and destroy one of North Bimini's remaining mangrove wetlands to construct a golf course. For the sake of Bimini's economic and environmental health, this cannot be allowed.
