Ban dog breeding for 2 years

Ban dog breeding for 2 years
The Issue
Currently Rescue centres are being inundated with dogs which have been purchased during lockdown and no longer fit in with their family needs. Having been bought without much thought, people are realising that they do not have the time to devote to essential training, these dogs may not be socialised adequately, through no fault of their own. The dogs with the right owners will make a loving addition to any family but are being overlooked for puppies flooding the markets.
Also there are numerous dogs being abandoned after being abused for years in puppy farms. These dogs end up in many local rescue centres, RSPCA sites and with devoted foster parents. The dogs have been used to living in crates, with little food and no love. Churning out puppies until they are no longer useful then they are abandoned. The new carers will then spend as long as necessary with them, teaching them how to be a dog, until they can be rehomed with very special owners.
There is also a big problem where dogs are being stolen, maybe to end up in a puppy farm. The heartbreak this causes for their owners is immense, and maybe this action might help to reduce dogs being stolen in the first place.
Genuine breeders will still be able to breed from their dogs after a two year gap and charities may be able to rehome the stock of dogs in tbat period.
