National Commission for Backward classes was formed in 1993 and is non existent for the last 23 years because it lacks Constitutional status. Backward classes form nearly 70% of India's population and a commission which is formed to look into the development of these backward classes has no powers to act in the interest of the people of these classes. Today OBC are caught between SC/ST who have constitutional protection and the Upper castes who are strong enough socially , economically & politically. OBC is caught in between these two but has not been able to create a space for its own. When we look at representation for OBC in central jobs at all levels and even political representation OBC has suffered since they don't get them in proportion to their population. It is an Irony that BC commission has to go to the SC/ST commission to press for action regarding its problems which has constitutional status.. Hence request all OBC of this great country to sign this petition in a big way that our voice will be heard By the prime minister. " Roti , Kapada Makaan ..
