Amend The Section 13A of the Income Tax Act, 1961- On Political Parties Funding

The Issue

Respected Prime Minister/Finance Minister,

We all are with you on each & every decision which is against corruption. After all, after such a long time, we got such a leader, who would dare to challenge the conventional politics & come forward to change the red tape in the political system. Demonetization was such a step, where Entire country took a stand that we will stand with our Prime Minister, As its a short term pain & long term gain- Thats what every one has been calling.

Starting from poor to middle class, Everyone has been standing in queues, Just to expect that our country will come out of this corruption, Therefore we have to bear this short term pain. We are still standing beside you to support on this.

However we all know Political funding is the biggest source of black money which is accrued in this country. The Section 13A of the Income Tax Act, 1961 is what gives immunity for political parties in respect of their income from house property, other sources, capital gains and income by way of voluntary contributions received from any person.

While demonetization phase is ongoing-

Political parties will merrily use this opportunity to put their black money (money for which there is no real source or income that is not taxed) on the table and would say that they got it all from small donors (cash donations less than Rs 20,000 does not need any source). It is not difficult to make backdated donation receipts. This defeats the entire purpose of black money operation.

If its a deposit of political party, they are exempted. This is the biggest source of corruption & black money. Hence we request you to amend Section 13 A- Income Tax Act & investigate the source of funds, Just like individuals are being assessed.

We understand that you have taken many hard steps for the development of this country, you would surely look into this matter & curb the corruption for 125 Crore Indians.
