The following point of our petition has been resolved and is in progress:

"Conducting women’s safety audits to promote the participation and collaboration of women and girls in addressing existing and emerging dangers and challenges within the downtown area."

In late November/early December, the first women's safety audit walk took place. Members present were Jasmine Botter, creator of petition; Constable Keira Brooks, Community Safety and Well-Being Officer; Staff Sergeant Valarie Gates of the Barrie Police Service; Keenan Aylwin, Councillor of Ward 2; and Teresa MacLennan, Executive Director of the Women and Children's Shelter Barrie. Masks were worn by all present and COVID-19 guidelines of that time were adhered to.

The findings of this safety audit walk are being used to compile a report to improve the safety and well-being of all who access and use the downtown Barrie area.

More safety audit walks are to take place as we progress, depending on the state of the pandemic.

If you are interested in joining us on our next walk, please email Jasmine Botter (jasminebotter@gmail.com).
