Prevent Triplex Development in Our Neighborhood

The Issue

I live next door to the proposed site where they plan to construct a triplex townhouse on an 8,500 square foot lot in our quiet single-family neighborhood. This area is cherished for its serene environment, ideal for families and children who attend the nearby elementary and secondary schools. The increased density from a triplex will dramatically alter the neighborhood’s character and exacerbate existing concerns.

This neighborhood currently lacks sidewalks, making it a challenge for pedestrians, especially school children, to navigate safely. With no dedicated parking spaces included in the development plan for the triplex, the project threatens to overwhelm our narrow streets with additional vehicles. This not only increases traffic but also poses a significant safety risk for children walking to school on a major route with already minimal pedestrian infrastructure.

Moreover, the planned triplex is set on a lot that is bordered by an alley in front and on its side, making any prospective increase in traffic and parking congestion even more concerning for residents. The integrity of the neighborhood, primarily consisting of single-family homes, should be preserved to maintain our peaceful environment.

We believe in a future where development respects the existing community and infrastructure, rather than imposing projects that lead to overcrowding and safety hazards. We urge the city's planning department to re-evaluate and halt this rezoning effort until a more suitable proposal is considered—one that aligns with the needs and safety of our community.

Please support our fight to protect our neighborhood’s tranquility and safety by signing this petition. Together, we can ensure that Lafayette grows responsibly and sustainably, prioritizing the well-being of its residents. Sign the petition to voice your concerns.
