I am the eldest daughter in a family that has devoted our lives to the well-being of 400 ostriches. These are not just animals; they are family members, with some of them having been part of our lives for over 35 years. These birds were peacefully involved in a scientific study until they unfortunately contracted avian flu, presumably from 300+ ducks that visited their pen and now made it home and have not left.

The ducks that pose the migratory flight risk are not in any radar, once our food source for them is gone and 400 Ostrich are destroyed they will continue on their migratory path to the next farm and next farm spreading Avian flu.  Our Ostrich are under strict quarantine measures. This gives us a rare opportunity to use our scientific data and help save humanity rather than a mass slaughter of our flightless, quarantined healthy Ostrich.

Today, we face an unimaginable threat—with officials planning to cull our ostriches based on the results of just two tests taken from deceased birds at the beginning of this ordeal. Over three quarters of our ostriches show no signs of the disease and remain perfectly healthy, yet it seems our pleas for more accurate and representative testing fall on deaf ears.

This decision is not only unscientific, but it also puts a three-year study and all its potential benefits at grave risk. Killing these ostriches will not eradicate avian flu—it will only extinguish the unique lives that call our farm home and the invaluable data they provide in understanding this disease.

Please sign and share.  400 animals depend on it by Feb 1st they are supposed to be destroyed.

We ask for a fair chance to collate more data, run more tests and put forth a well-analyzed, comprehensive report. Most importantly, we ask for the lives of our ostriches, part of an extensive study and a significant part of our personal and scientific landscape, to be saved. Please sign this petition to help us in our mission to prevent the unjust culling of 400 irreplaceable ostriches.
