The Issue

The Geauga Co Dog Shelter holds a special place in our hearts. With its dedicated staff, the shelter has successfully adopted out over 192 dogs this year alone. This diligent team has worked tirelessly not only to reunite countless strays with their owners but also to provide invaluable assistance to other shelters. The thought of taking this responsibility away is unthinkable as it would not serve the dogs and citizens of Geauga County.

Despite these admirable achievements, there is a proposal to transfer the management of the Geauga Co Dog Shelter to the Sherrif's Department. We believe that such a transfer could disrupt not only the performance of the shelter staff but also their deep connection with the animals they care for daily. These are the individuals who make an immeasurable impact on the lives of our dogs, stray or otherwise.

Our dogs require specialist care that can only be provided by dedicated shelter staff, not law enforcement. The reputation of Geauga Co Dog Shelter speaks for itself with the impressive number of dogs adopted each year. A shift in management to the Sherrif's Department could potentially jeopardize the well-being of our dogs and put at risk the excellent work currently being done.

We implore you to consider the significant effects this proposal holds for the dogs of Geauga County and their caregivers. Let's not disrupt the good work already being performed at the Geauga Co Dog Shelter. Please, stand with us against the transfer of shelter management. Please sign this petition today.
