Prevent the Suspension of the VBA Work Study Program in RCS District 5

The Issue

My wife and I both served in the United States Air Force, earning our benefits and are currently work studies for the Bellingham Vet Center. We are just two of many who are using this program. The program is tremendously important to all who have access to it, as it helps us manage our living costs while we are committed to our college education. Unfortunately, we are now facing an unexpected and devastating threat - the suspension of the Veteran Benefits Administration Work Study program in the Readjustment Counseling Services District 5.

The Work Study program, an initiative of the Veterans Administrations, offers students a part-time employment to help them earn while they learn. The significance of this program is felt across the United States, where numerous veterans like us benefit from it. Our focus is to get an education and build a better future, and suspending this program will put an unnecessary financial burden on us and many others in similar situations.

Not only does it support student-veterans financially, but the experience gained on these on-the-job training programs also significantly improves our employment outlook post-graduation. We believe that this program is essential to prepare us to reintegrate into civilian life. Therefore, the suspension of the VBA work study program in RCS District 5 is a critical issue - not only for us but to the entire veteran community who deserve assistance for their dedication to their country.

We urge the decision-makers to reconsider this suspension and look into other alternatives before finalizing this proposal. Sign this petition to help us keep this resource available for all work study students in RCS District 5.
