Prevent the Sale of all Public Land

The Issue

This land is beautiful as it is. My family, and hundreds to thousands of other families, travel from across the globe to experience this land in its true form. We do not come to witness homes encroaching on nature and destroying our heritage.

Senator Mike Lee from Utah is proposing a bill that would severely impact our public land. According to The Wilderness Society, this bill would open up 250 million acres of cherished public land to potential private purchase. The areas affected include recreation areas, wilderness study areas, inventoried roadless areas, critical wildlife habitats, and big game migration corridors.

An example of what may be sold..
For those of us living near Pocatello, this could result in the privatization of 1,200 acres of Forest Service land to the south. Additionally, a 90,000-acre parcel of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property north of Blackfoot and west of Idaho Falls and a 21,000-acre chunk of BLM land north of Ashton could face the same fate.

The proposal threatens our environment and the legacy of the land. These open spaces provide not only environmental benefits but are vital for recreation and for maintaining the ecosystems and wildlife that call them home. The loss of these lands to private interests would be a direct blow to the community, environment, and wildlife.

By preserving these lands, we honor our commitment to future generations, ensuring they too can experience their natural wonder. The decision to sell these lands off does not consider the broader ramifications for our natural heritage, nor does it respect the wishes of the people who cherish these lands.

We must act now to halt this bill from passing in its current form. It shows a disregard for public interest and the importance of sacred natural spaces. Help protect our land. Show your support to stop the sale of these public lands by signing this petition.
