As a new resident of Mason and Main I've quickly settled in and made Merrylands my home just as over 400 other families, many of them first home buyers are doing. I was disappointed to see that council had put 28-36 McFarlane St (the old carpark) up for sale. If purchases this land could see the development of an up to 40 story tall building which would block views of Parramatta and put Mason and Main in it's shadow.

It would also waste the opportunity to extend main lane out to McFarlane St to ease the congestion in main lane and use the remaining space to extend civic square with a focus on green space.

Merrylands is growing. Having attracted hundreds to developments like Mason and Main, it's vital that we preserve our land for community use, not just development. By taking a stand today, we can ensure the healthy and sustainable growth of our community.
