For the majority of my life, the beautiful wildlife of Shaftsbury Settlement Lot 38 has been my refuge. Studded with numerous species of local flora and fauna, this area spared my friends and me several enduring memories and introduced us to many of nature's wonders. However, the feared rezoning of this lot to DIR-C from its current residential status threatens not only these opportunities for future generations, but also the overall ecosystem of our community situated in Peace River, AB, Canada.

By turning this forest hub into a gravel pit, we risk wiping out multiple species dwelling there and disrupting the native biodiversity. This area not only features biodiversity but also serves as a serene retreat for fitness and outdoor activities like hiking for our community, thereby fostering our wellbeing.

The proposed rezoning reflects negligence of its potential harmful environmental impacts and the quality of life of our residents. It disregards the mandate of protecting bio-diversity, as emphasized by Canadian environmental policies. We thus call upon the relevant zoning authorities to halt the current rezoning efforts and protect Lot 38.
