Hello Green Lake Sequoia Supporter,
We are still fighting for this tree! Here are three ways you can help:
1) We want to have a group go down to City Hall this Friday (4/25) and deliver the petition signatures. If you are interested in joining, please email info@treeactionseattle.org to get connected. It will probably be in the morning.
2) Call King’s Trees at 425-766-3618 (tony@kingstrees.net) and politely and respectfully register your concern about removing such a perfectly healthy tree. (King’s Trees is the company that has been hired to remove the tree.)
In the past, other tree service providers have reconsidered taking on a job like this.
3) Do you live nearby or are you a local birder?
If there are any nests in the trees, by state law the removal must be paused to wait for the babies to fledge. Sometimes the state (WDFW) will allow the tree cutter to apply for a "take" permit and proceed, but it needs to follow the legal process. Have you noticed any birds flitting back and forth into specific spots in the trees?
If you see something you can contact WDFW directly: CALL - 425-775-1311
And finally, please make sure to visit our website site and subscribe to the Tree Action Seattle newsletter: https://www.treeactionseattle.org
We are so grateful for your support!
