Our cherished miniature pig is more than just a pet; she has become an integral part of our family circles, offering solace, company, and love. Living in Janetville, Kawartha Lakes, ON, Canada, we have painstakingly taken care of our 60 lbs, loving, and quiet miniature pig, ensuring her peaceful cohabitation with both our family and the larger community.

Despite our miniature pig being significantly smaller than traditional farm pigs, which can weigh between 600 and 800 lbs, unique administrative rules are attempting to separate us from a member of our family. As it stands, systems and prejudices exist that undermine the legitimacy of having a non-traditional pet, even though our pig remains entirely peaceful.

These animals are known for intelligence, cleanliness, and their ability to form close bonds with humans. They are also generally quiet, do not shed, and are hypoallergenic, making them ideal household companions.

In essence, this highlighted injustice is not just about keeping a beloved family pet; it’s a fight against archaic legislative norms ignoring the dynamics of modern pet ownership. Just like the thousands of residents in Canada who keep cats, dogs, and rabbits as pets, we see our miniature pig as a part of our family. She forms part of our daily lives and her absence would create a vacuum filled with sorrow and despair.
