This project was presented to the city council in November 2021 by EJ McManus and Lindsay Berryman, after learning of the design opportunity from Sam Barnum. 

City Councilman Eric Stark then presented the request for funding to the council on January 6th, 2022. No set amount was requested, but Mr. Stark proposed the 45% project deficit be provided in full.

The property is being offered by The Merrick, located at 5th and Riverside, and partial funding for the project is coming from The United Way of Jackson County.
