Our neighbourhood in Brondesbury, London has long been a sanctuary for trees. We have stood guard over them for many years, understanding their irreplaceable value to our community and environment. Among these is an old London Plane tree that has become a symbol of our commitment to nature. This tree is now under threat of being felled.

Trees are not just aesthetic additions to our surroundings; they play crucial roles in maintaining ecological balance. According to the Woodland Trust, mature trees like our beloved London Plane can absorb up to 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year while releasing oxygen back into the atmosphere (source: Woodland Trust). They also provide habitats for numerous species and contribute positively towards mental health.

The loss of this tree on the corner of Callcott Road and Plympton Road would not only be a blow to our local ecosystem but also an affront to the values we hold dear as residents of Brondesbury. We cannot stand by as this symbol of nature's resilience is threatened.

We urge you all - neighbours, friends, environmentalists - anyone who understands the importance and beauty these ancient beings bring into our world - sign this petition. Let us show that we will not allow such disregard for nature in Brondesbury or anywhere else! Sign today and help us save our cherished old London Plane tree!
