Our family is facing an unimaginable loss. Mellow, our cherished canine companion, is at risk of being euthanized. Mellow is not just a pet; she is a living connection to our late mother, who nurtured her with love from an early age. Since my mother's passing in May 2022, Mellow's presence has provided comfort in our household, easing our grief with her affection and steadfast companionship.

Mellow has always been a sweet-tempered, sociable, and loving dog. She has shared countless joyous moments with our family and her gentle nature has extended beyond the walls of our home. Within our community, Mellow is known for her friendliness and has never displayed aggression or dominative behavior outside her property. Despite these qualities, recent concerns about her demeanor have surfaced, putting her life in jeopardy.

We believe these concerns to be a misunderstanding of her behavior, possibly due to her protective instincts being heightened since our mother's death. Instances that might appear concerning are, in reality, an expression of her loyalty and protective nature towards our family members who she sees as her pack.

The threat of euthanizing Mellow is not only unwarranted but would also strip our family of a beloved member who has been a pillar of emotional support. She has never harmed anyone with intention, and we implore those in power to reconsider any plans against her.

We are advocating for a comprehensive evaluation of Mellow by a neutral, certified animal behaviorist who can accurately assess her true temperament and offer any insights or solutions to address concerns. Through guidance and proper support, we are confident that any misunderstandings about her behavior can be resolved.
