This is a desperate call for help. The Ford government has chosen to close over half of the provincially funded Safe Injection Sites in Ontario. To them, to us, this is not politics – it's life or death. We're dealing with a health crisis and removing these sites will only exacerbate the problem.

Addiction is not a choice. It's a misunderstood disease that has been proven to affect people from all walks of life, regardless of age, status, or locality. The closing of these sites won't solve the issue. It will result in hundreds of deaths per year, turning all cites into a de facto, unregulated, and especially dangerous consumption site. 

This will not make schools nor children more safe. It will do the opposite. 

The decisions being made are ignoring empirical evidence, ignoring the voices of experts in the field, and ignoring the urgent needs of our society. We can't stand by and watch everything being made so much worse for everyone of all ages.
