Prevent the Closure of Penzance Link into Learning Adult Education Centre

The Issue

As someone deeply connected to the local community, I've seen first-hand how Penzance Link into Learning has transformed countless lives. This service, the primary provider of adult education in Penzance and West Penwith, offers essential courses in English, Mathematics, ICT (Information and Communications Technology) and ESOL (English as a Second or Other Language). Many friends and acquaintances have leveraged these educational opportunities to gain vital qualifications, propelling them into university courses or more fulfilling jobs they would otherwise not have been able to access.

Alas, this invaluable resource is under threat of closure by the end of December 2024. Losing Penzance Link into Learning would rob our community of an irreplaceable lifeline dedicated to elevating its residents' skills and qualifications. As a result, this would tarnish Penzance and the wider area of West Penwith's future workforce, leaving a void in our community’s ability to provide a diverse and qualified labour pool.

In a time where adult education is essential for upskilling and reskilling our workforce, it's unthinkable that we should lose such an asset. Adult learning has been referred to as "the most positive source of human capital available to the UK", (Learning & Work Institute, 2017). This is clearly reflected in the successes of Penzance Link into Learning's learners, who frequently go on to access higher education or improve their employment prospects.

Our community deserves the chance to better their lives and contribute to the local economy. Join us in advocating for the continuation of this essential service.
