I am a resident of Crewkerne, deeply concerned about the proposed closure of our local recycling site. This issue is personal to me and many others in our community. With more houses being built locally, the need for a nearby recycling facility is greater than ever. The closure would force people to travel further distances to dispose their waste responsibly, which may not always be feasible.

Moreover, this move could potentially increase instances of fly tipping - illegal dumping of waste in unauthorized places. Not only does fly tipping harm our beautiful environment, it also costs taxpayers' money for clean-up operations. According to Keep Britain Tidy, clean-up costs associated with fly-tipping in England alone reached £57 million in 2018/19 (source: Keep Britain Tidy).

The preservation of our recycling site is crucial for maintaining environmental responsibility and cleanliness within Crewkerne. We urge decision-makers to reconsider this action and keep the Crewkerne Recycling Site operational for its residents.
