Prevent the Closure of Chesil Lodge Resource Centre

The Issue

My dear Grandmother, Sylvia Williams, is a ripe age of 92. She's a dementia patient, living alone since the passing of her beloved husband, my Grandad, Roy Williams. She finds her joy at the day care centre located within the Chesil Lodge, Winchester. My Nan looks forward to her regular visits to this centre where she interacts with her peers and escapes from the solitude of her home. Sadly, this happiness is threatened - the Lodge is under the risk of closure. This not only places my Nan in a state of concern and sadness, but also affects many other elderly visitors who rely on this centre for companionship and activities.

A healthy engagement is vital for seniors, especially those like my grandmother who live alone. The National Institute on Aging reports that social isolation and loneliness can have adverse health consequences for older adults, including developing dementia, heart disease, and depression. Can we afford to take away this vital lifeline in their golden years?

Let us stand together to protect the rights and happiness of our seniors. Stop the reductions on senior day care centres. Let's ensure that our elders like Sylvia, who have given so much to us, have a place where they can feel at home, interact with their peers, and live a fulfilling life. We demand an immediate halt to the possible closure of these centres. It's time to invest more in them, not less. Please sign this petition, your support can make a difference.
