As members of the UK community and supporters of higher education, we are deeply concerned by Cardiff University's plans to shut down its Nursing course. Among us is a collective network of friends and family directly affected by this decision. Primarily, Cardiff's Nursing course holds significant ranking both in Wales and the broader UK — it is recognised as the best in Wales and fifth-best across the UK. Furthermore, it comes at a crucial time when the nation is already grappling with a pressing shortage of UK-trained nurses. By discontinuing this vital course, we venture into worsening the current pressure on our healthcare systems. We respectfully urge Cardiff University to reconsider its decision, thereby continuing its crucial role in educating our future nurses, for their invaluable contribution remains the backbone of our healthcare community. We invite all who understand the vital role of nursing education – and its impact on our community’s health and wellbeing – to sign this petition.
