Prevent the Closure of Bordon's Refuse and Recycling Centre

The Issue

As a resident of Bordon, Hampshire, I've seen our town grow and change. With 2,400 homes given outline planning permission on MOD Land, only about 500 have been completed so far. The creation of a new town centre is still (slowly) in progress and over 600 additional homes are proposed by the EHDC draft local plan. Our community is expanding rapidly but there's growing concern about infrastructure and facilities.

As the council plans to cut expenditure this year a huge concern is losing our local refuse and recycling centre. Its closure would be a regressive step forward in terms of HCC supporting our community. It serves not just as a place for waste disposal but also as an essential part of maintaining the cleanliness and environmental sustainability of Bordon.

The closure would mean longer travel times to alternative sites, increased carbon emissions due to further distances travelled by residents for waste disposal, potential increase in fly-tipping incidents due to inconvenience caused by distance or lack thereof access to recycling centres.

We must ensure that as we build more homes, we also maintain - not reduce - the services that make living here sustainable and pleasant for all residents. We call upon Hampshire County Council to reconsider any plans they may have regarding closing down this vital facility.

Please sign this petition if you agree that keeping Bordon's refuse and recycling centre open is crucial for supporting our growing community.
