The Issue

For more than seven decades, our beloved elementary school has served as an important part of our community in Lubbock. It has bridged gaps in education for lower socioeconomic and underrepresented students, offering equitable opportunities in an environment that nurtures success.

This school is more than just a building; it's a place that resonates with the heartbeat of the community—a beacon of hope for students who deserve as high a quality of education as those present in wealthier parts of the city.

In a time where quality education is critical for future successes, it is disheartening to say that our beloved school is under threat of consolidation. The proposed consolidation undermines the tremendous strides our school has made in education over the years. Moreover, it threatens to sever the lifeline that our school provides for these students, possibly increasing educational disparities in the process.

The Child Trends Data Bank highlighted the advantages of smaller schools such as ours. Their findings suggest strong links between small school size and improved student attitudes, increased parental involvement, and reduced levels of student crime and violence.

We have all witnessed how our school has transformed lives and the community at large, and how it continues serving as a lighthouse guiding our kids towards their potential. Now, we need your voice. Please help us fight for our school, and sign our petition to keep Hodges open!
