My family and I, like so many others, are lower-middle income and depend on Medicaid and Medicare to make health insurance affordable. Without these supports, we cannot meet our basic needs for healthcare, groceries, and utilities. For us, and for millions, these programs are the difference between health and hardship, between hope and despair.

2. Massive Increases in Electricity Costs
This bill would raise home electricity costs by 28%. For working families already struggling to keep up with inflation and stagnant wages, this is catastrophic. Higher electricity bills mean less money for food, medicine, rent, and other essentials. It is unconscionable to force families to choose between keeping the lights on and keeping their children fed.

3. Reinforcing the Notion that Healthcare Is Not a Human Right
The Big Beautiful Bill sends a clear and dangerous message: that healthcare is not a human right. This is simply wrong. Healthcare is essential for survival and dignity. This fight is not abstract. I am about to become an adult in 10 months, and I am genuinely scared for my life and my future. My family’s ability to afford healthcare, groceries, and electricity is at stake. I am terrified of living under an authoritarian government that breaks promises and rules with disregard for the people it is supposed to serve. This is not just unconstitutional—it is inhumane and otherworldly in its cruelty.

6. Widespread Harm to Vulnerable Communities
Children, seniors, people with disabilities, and rural families will be hit hardest by these cuts.
Rural hospitals and clinics are at risk of closing, especially in states like Kentucky, Louisiana, California, and Oklahoma, leaving entire communities without access to medical care.
Experts, including the American Hospital Association, warn that these cuts will force hospitals to reduce services or close, and the Congressional Budget Office estimates millions more will become uninsured.
7. A Call for Constitutional and Human Rights Protections
