I am creating this petition to save TikTok, not just as another entertainment platform, but as a cherished keeper of my personal, irreplaceable memories. My mother and I shared countless moments on this platform that helped us bond and understand each other better. These memories are precious, and losing access to them would be tantamount to having a physical lifetime photo album destroyed.

TikTok provides a platform for millions to express themselves through short videos, with an estimated 80 million monthly active users in the US alone according to data analytics firm Sensor Tower. It also employs over 1,500 people in the US, showing its significant footprint in the culture and economy.

The proposed banning of TikTok raises concerns about freedom of expression and the right to access personal data. We believe there are alternative solutions to the security concerns raised by officials that do not involve outright banning, such as stricter data management policies and transparent operations.

Closing down TikTok wouldn't just rob the users of their platform, it would also lead to the unwarranted loss of personal memories, such as my own, stored and cherished on this platform. This is an earnest plea to rethink the decision to ban TikTok.
