The Issue

We live on the golf course of Carolina Shores. Its towering trees, green spaces and sound of birds are not just part of our daily lives but they're part of who we are. The threat of rezoning our beloved golf course area for residential development would be a loss to our community. Loss of this green haven doesn’t only mean a blow to our recreational lives; it also has steep environmental costs.

The possibility of development not only destroys our property values and our scenic landscape,  but also threatens our valuable local flora and fauna. At specific risk are endangered bird species that inhabit these areas: the majestic Great Horned Owl, the melodious Eastern Meadowlark, and the delicate Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.

While we understand the need for regional development, it must not come at the expense of our ecological balance. An estimated one-third of the U.S.'s endangered species dwell only in wetlands, making these places essential havens for these creatures (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency).

We're seeking the support of local residents of Carolina Shores, fellow nature lovers, golf enthusiasts, and anyone who values the balance between ecological sensitivity and urban progress. This golf course, while not perfect, is irreplaceable to us and the wildlife that calls it home. As a resident of Carolina Shores, NC, I am increasingly alarmed at the overbuilding that is harming our environment and straining our infrastructure.

Let's urge our municipal bodies not to rezone our golf course for development. Let's prove that collectively, our voices can make a difference. Your support is crucial. Please, sign this petition to aid in protecting the Carolina Shores Golf Course from being turned into a residential area.
