Old Salem Road has been an integral part of our community’s history and identity for many years. Renaming it would create unnecessary confusion for residents, businesses, emergency services, and postal operations. Beyond the logistical disruptions, the name changes disregard the historical and cultural significance of Old Salem Road, erasing a legacy that has long been a part of our town.

More concerning, however, is the conflict of interest surrounding Representative Clotworthy’s involvement. There is credible concern that his advocacy for this renaming is motivated by personal or financial gain rather than the best interests of the community. If there is any direct or indirect financial benefit to him, his associates, or affiliated parties, then this proposal represents a potential case of graft that must be thoroughly investigated. Public trust in our representatives is paramount, and any action that undermines that trust should be met with scrutiny and accountability.
